Behind the scenes with SSE
Lifting, control and rigging specialist Lift-Turn-Move (LTM) supplied LoadGuard® hoists to SSE Audio which were used for The Corrs tour. Four of the LTM team were invited by SSE Audio’s Russell Holt to watch the load in at Liverpool Echo Arena. This was the first time behind the scenes for some of the team to see their gear in action. It has proved a very valuable experience, improving their understanding and product knowledge. The attendees from LTM comprised of Clare Sheppard from Sales, Alison Marshall from Marketing and Jack Triggs from the Workshop. Jack Triggs stated “Today has been extremely beneficial, I am based in the workshop building the hoists I have never had the opportunity to see what the hoists were used for in a concert, it gave me a great overview of how the hoists are used”.
The LTM team enjoyed watching the rigging by SSE Audio’s Perttu Korteniemi, Pete Hughes and Brandon Reece who used 8 of the LG16’s, 4 of the LG10’s and 2 of the LG Minis to hang their L-acoustics system comprising of two K1 hangs (LG16), two K2 hangs (LG16), and two K sub hangs (LG10). The LoadGuard minis were used as cable picks. SSE’s Russell Holt stated “We are really happy with the hoists, they are extremely quiet and allow quick load in, we especially liked the LoadGuard mini it as it is so light weight. We have worked closely with LTM to develop the hoists to best suit a touring environment”
The LoadGuard Hoist has really taken off in the production world since it’s introduction in 2009, originally seen as a fantastic hoist for venue installs and seen in venues all over the world such as Glasgow Emirates Arena and Velodrome, The ACC Liverpool Arena and The World Trade Centre, Dubai. The reputation of the hoist has grown and customers are now realising the full benefits of the LoadGuard Hoist as a rigging Hoist for touring use, SSE being one of the first to take the hoists out in a touring capacity. Options include Weatherproofing.
LTM also specialise in Motor control. They have a great range of rack mounted G-Pro Controllers which are perfect for touring with ,many safety features.

We've recruited three new apprentices!
Lift Turn Move based in Bromborough, Wirral, have already shown a commitment to training future engineers and this is set to continue with the announcement from Director, John Jones, that they are training three apprentices this year; Joshua Baines, Brandon Gillam and Liam Shone.
Josh joins Brandon in the work shop as the second apprentice currently being trained in the LTM workshop. Brandon and Joshua are studying for an apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing which will involve one and a half days of tuition at a local college to learn essential theory and 3 and a half days a week working in the hoist assembly area to develop their practical skills. They will both spend time in the warehouse receiving product training, dispatching goods and observing the other engineers at work.
Liam is joining our sales office as a Sales Office trainee. Liam will be studying for an apprenticeship in Business & Administration which will involve one and a half days at a local college to learn and 3 and a half days a week working in the sales office developing his office skills. Liam will spend time in the office supporting the sales team with quotes, assisting customers on the telephone and organising deliveries.
Skills shortages and recruiting difficulties are considered to be some of the biggest threats facing businesses today, and The Young Apprenticeship Scheme addresses these issues directly, commenting on it, John Jones remarks:
“It’s becoming increasingly difficult to recruit skilled lifting equipment engineers, so we feel that the best way forward for us is to bring new apprentices through the business.”
As well as addressing a skills shortage, the National Apprentice Scheme states on their website that “Apprentices tend to be eager, motivated, flexible and loyal to the company that invested in them.” These statements come as no surprise to LTM, two of their apprentices are still at the company, and both have subsequently moved into supervisory positions and even been asked to travel abroad to use their skills. John continues:
“We plan to recruit at least one apprentice per year over the next 5 years and see how things develop. As a responsible employer, we feel it is important not just to recruit talent, but to nurture it. Ultimately it's all about the people, if we get people in with the right attitude like the guys we've had through on this scheme, then we're all set. You can teach the right skills, but you can't teach the right attitude.”

LTM LoadGuard® Motors weatherproof option make it ideal for outdoor use
Merseyside, UK, based lifting, control and rigging specialist Lift-Turn-Move (LTM) has recently supplied LoadGuard® hoists to various Worldwide Rigging companies for outdoor touring purposes in festivals such as Glastonbury and Wacken Open Air.
The LoadGuard Hoist was introduced in 2009, originally seen as a fantastic hoist for venue installs seen in venues all over the world such as Glasgow Emirates Arena and Velodrome , The ACC Liverpool Arena and The World Trade Centre, Dubai . The reputation of the hoist has grown and customers are now realising the full benefits of the LoadGuard Hoist as a rigging Hoist for touring use.
All LoadGuard hoists have IP55 protection as standard, but this can be increased to IP65. The hoists come complete with sealed bearings in the chain wheel area so there is little chance of rain entering the hoist. Also fitted is a drain system which consists of a short tube from the load wheel area (where water can sit after rain comes down the chain) to the exterior of the hoist. The drain system means that the water exits the hoist in the hook area. The LoadGuard Hoists can be fitted with black or galvanised chain (for outdoor use)
The LoadGuard can be modified, to make them ideal for touring purposes that include outside venues and festivals. LTM offer a Weatherproof kit as an option, this has seals on both sides of the covers, transformer dipped in varnish to seal it and a Gore-Tex valve fitted to the electrical end cover to equalise pressure inside the hoist. This prevents water being sucked in if the hoist is under-pressured due to being hot, air is driven out as it heats, air and moisture is drawn in, this can cause more damage than rain.
LTM also specialise in Motor control. They have a great range of rack mounted G-Pro Controllers available which are perfect for touring.
Anyone interested in our new product range is encouraged to contact our sales team for more information.

LOADGUARD MINI CHAIN HOIST PROVES POPULAR AT PALME EXHIBITION
LTM recently exhibited at Palme Middle East show in Dubai on 11th – 13th May 2015, where they launched their new chain hoist product “The LoadGuard® Mini” to their middle East Clients.
The LoadGuard® Mini is an extremely light weight hoist, weighing only 12kgs, with a lifting capacity of 250kg on 1 fall of chain and has the benefit of limit switches.
There are many great features on this hoist such as the new profile steel chain which carries heavier loads with low wear. This LoadGuard® Mini is suitable for upright and inverted use. It also meets or exceeds most specification requirements, with double brakes and other options.
The great thing about this hoist is that the standard hoist can have components added to meet or exceed most international standards, also to improve the use for the operator. Features such as a second brake, limit switches, locking hooks, larger chain bags, load cells built into hook or eye suspension give a glimpse to future of the hoisting technology available from LoadGuard®.
LTM found interest in the new product extremely popular with Palme visitors and are delighted to have already shipped their first orders as a result!
